Ethiopian 1st B787 Dreamliner, dubbed “AFRICA FIRST”, landed at Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Wednesday, 29 August 2012. Ethiopian is the first airline outside Japan to operate the Dreamliner, the most technologically advanced commercial aircraft in the world.
Abuja has become one of the few airports in the world to receive the Dreamliner aircraft, ahead of many major destinations in the Americas, Europe or Asia. Abuja is part of Ethiopian extensive network in Africa and was chosen as one of the first destinations for the Dreamliner because it is the political capital of one of Africa’s most important countries and hosts the headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the regional seat of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
The Dreamliner offers passengers unmatched on-board comfort with greatly reduced noise, higher ceilings, biggest windows in the sky, higher humidity and unique lighting. As Africa’s flagship carrier, Ethiopian is committed to provide its esteemed passengers from Abuja and elsewhere the best possible travel experience with the newest fleet as well as five star service delivery.
Starting 20 September 2012, Ethiopian will deploy the Dreamliner daily on its Washington D.C route.
